Not At The Mall

Today there was a shooting at a mall in Oregon. Went there months ago, it's not close enough to think about visiting much. But my daughter lives a lot closer, and even though I don't see her heading out there much, either, I am so glad to know she is OK.

People I know posted on FB that:
*we live nearby, and the food court is our spot to get together-we were just there last weekend
*my mom works at the mall and she's OK
*my friend takes my daughter there every Tuesday, but last night he decided to go somewhere else

Wow. I am thankful those dear people were not touched personally by this tragedy. I am thankful it was not worse than it was. I am so sorry that those who were personally attacked either lost their lives or will be affected one way or another. Yet I am hopeful and expectant that the community will rally to their aid in many ways.

And this episode causes me to reflect on worldwide events, and be thankful for a rather uneventful life. Specifically, I am thankful we are not at war on American soil.

I am glad everyone you know is safe.
My best friend was there an hour before this happened.
I was there last week with my children.. it is a scary thought.
This kind of thing keeps happening all over. It is so sad.
My heart goes out to all the people who were there on Tuesday.

Glad to hear you and yours are safe. May the holidays be merry, not scary.

Thank you, you too.
We are trying.
Gloomy around here still, but it will get better.
