My father is an alcoholic. He gave up his family for beer. I don't believe he was ready to be a father. He is neglectful. Now, I love my father, I just don't like who he is. I don't go to his house anymore. He never calls. I see him on Fridays or Saturdays when he picks up my little brother, and Sundays when he drops him off. That is only if I go outside. We always fight. He is greedy and immature. My mama's boyfriend is awesome, though. I see him more than father. Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a daddy. Mama's bf is my daddy. Father is father. Maybe someday dad will understand...

Its really sad about what your dad's become. But like you already realise. Dad's are just like everyone else in the world out there. Some are great people and some have their problems. Even some of the people who seem great aren't great with kids. I think it must be the hardest thing in the world to be a daddy. I'm so pleased that I felt cared for and loved by my farther I really see myself as lucky.
