Well, I got my letter 15 days after he left for boot camp. There will be one short, typed letter before that and it will let you know his address but I'm talking about the actual written personal letter. I don't think they have much time to write, in general. I went on websites to see how long letters would take and it seems that most people got the first letter in about 2 weeks so that's about when you should expect one.

Okay he won't be able to write for a couple of weeks. Those first few weeks they are CRAZY busy trying to just get used to the life and all they have to do. Plus they are exhausted so if they do have a bit of time it is challenging to get a letter down. And sometimes it will take weeks to finish a letter! Once you get his first letter though, you can write as much and often as you want! There's no limit on how many you can send. Remember though not to get impatient if he doesn't answer promptly or says he isn't getting them-sometimes they hold the recruits' mail on purpose. Just hang in there and stay strong! Good luck :)

It took me 10 days to get my first letter. They are extremely busy in boot camp as well and sometimes end up writing bits and pieces of letters on several days before they mail it out. It's rough, I know, but you can do it! My boyfriend just left today for MCT. It sucks.

It takes awhile my son was in boot Camp at Fort Jackson years ago. I wrote him every day. I didn't see my first letter for a couple of weeks. Also they are not able to call right off. He was able to call me on Sunday's after awhile, but if someone in his unit messed up they all lost their phone priviledges. It was not a fun time for him. Hang in there you will hear from him soon.
