Getting By On E-2 Pay

Hi all! I need your help. My fiance will be leaving for boot camp in Sept. (we will be married at that point). My plan is to stay back home for a year to work and then move in with him next summer (we hope to be on base). We plan on having a child so it will be the 3 of us. He will be E-2 and I would like to stay home with the baby. Financially do you feel this is possible regardless of whether we are on or off base? If anyone can share their experiences I would be much appreciative!

HAHA well he is a month younger so feel free to call me a cougar anyways! Makes me feel like I fit in...LOL.

For those of you with advice on living on E-2 pay I appreciate it (since I was only asking about finances). Yes my fiance and I are 27, have been together for 5 years, I have a masters degree and we have both been working full time for the past 5 yrs. Yes, the baby will be a year AFTER marriage, not before.

This is how I see it... Usmckeeee you harsh damn mama chill.
But write down all of your expences and add them up im not sure how you livin so I don't know if you will be able to afford it but after you see how much money you will have left after adding up your expences you will know if you will be able to live comfortable w/ a child...
WHY THE **** IZ U TRYINA GET PREGNANT ALL ****** FAST WHAT THA **** U IS A CRAZY *****!!!

Thanks for the responses ladies! I'm not expecting yet but we are going to start trying a month before the wedding. Our plan is that if we get pregnant before he leaves for boot camp, then I deliver in the spring and move down with him in the summer (I am a teacher so this works out really well with maternity leave, etc). Some think our plan is crazy but we are very excited!
I'm not opposed to working part-time, but if I can stay home I would love to!

you would make more money if you live off base! if you can get an apartment for less than your BAH (the money they give you to live) then you pocket whatever is left over. im not sure what pfc's make but i know it is a struggle because they dont make ****! but can totally be done...

so are you expecting now or are you planning on getting pregnant soon i missed that part

Possible, yes, potentially very stressful, yes.
