I Am The Night
I turn the stainless steel faucet counter clockwise disrobing. Jeans, sweatshirt, white bra, and panties with pink hearts, socks- it all falls to the floor. I am tired The Night will surely wake me. Stepping over my pile I reach into the shower ensuring the water is hot. Steam escapes, fogging the windows and the glass. I stop. Evaluating my reflection in the partially hazed window I wonder what the Neighbor thinks as he peers between his wife’s kitchen blinds. Can he see me looking straight to where I imagine his eyes might be? Against the lighted back ground I only see his silhouette. I exhale,,,I see you,,, as you see me. Come wash my back. I smile,,, he wouldn’t dare. What would he tell her, he’s taking out the trash? At 16 past ten at night? Really, close the blinds sir. Go **** yourself in your den, it’s time for me to go out.
