Knew Him Once Upon a Time...

Seventeen years ago, while in high school we were friends (he went to a rival high school). I had a crush on him and he had a crush on me, but we never could date.

I had not seen him once in all these years, but this summer I found him on myspace via a mutual friend...I sent him a 'how have you been' message and that was the end of it, until he happened to be working in the town where I currently live. He sent me a message saying he would be in town, I gave him my number and we met for a drink.  After all these years our friendship and chemistry was still there.

Initially we both agreed that we would keep things casual...but it wasnt long before we both had fallen in love. I never asked him to leave her, but he did on his own after only 3 months.

But now I feel like I have him even less than I did when he was with her...

I am starting to wonder if he used me to get out of a failing marriage...like he needed an excuse. Is this common?

Yes, it is common. Sadly more common than you can imagine. If 100 men have affairs, 10 will leave their wives. Only 1 or 2 will marry the woman they were having an affair with.
