My Husband Is In The British Forces and I Am American

My husband is deployed to the sandbox right now and will be home shortly. This year he was gone for 8months and the year b4 he was gone 10months. This was our 3rd Holiday season alone. It can be tough at times. We have three children that don't always understand why Daddy can't be here. We live in the UK away from all our family and friends. But I make the most of it. I work full-time and go to Uni to keep myself busy and well as being a single married mum most months. To be honest I wouldn't trade this life for the world. Sure I moan at times and feel sorry for myself and other times I am just filled with anger. There are allot of horrible women on the base we live on and as soon as my husband leaves it seems that they feel it is there duty in life to make my life hell. But I stand tall and try my best to ignore them cause at least if they are talking about me they are leaving someone else that might not be as strong as me alone. I have learned after 12 and half years of being with my husband in the forces is to grow a thick skin and stay as busy as I can to make the time go by faster. I know I can stand here as one of the proud and few because not all women are as strong as us and the far and few make it over time. But I know in my heart I can and will  be waiting to be able to start ourlives together without the forces.  x

Military spouses can be awful. I feel the weak ones need to take out their bitter-ness about being in this situation on the strong. They don't have the patience to wait I suppose. I am so glad to hear that your husband is coming home soon, and I hope that you and your children had an amazing holiday.<br />
