    Hey kee, good for you for being active. That is a great first step. I work in health and help people lose weight (no worries im not an ad!). I just recently lost a lot of weight myself by going vegetarian. Not that everyone needs to do that but for me it was the right thing. And good for you for setting a realistic goal! Losing weight does take time and losing more than a few pounds a week is never healthy.

    I have five basic tips:
    1.Water and tea. Avoid juice, eat the fruit instead. your body needs to fibre in the fruit to ensure the sugars found there don't cause our blood sugar to spike (leads to cravings). And if you can help it, never touch soda again. It stops your body from absorbing minerals. Diet soda is worse because it triggers addictive behaviour and causes brain damage over time AND prevents your body from absorbing minerals. If you want a fruity tasting tea, try making iced hibiscus tea with a little honey. It tastes like fruit punch! Or try some kombucha if you're craving pop; its iced fermented tea with a natural fizz and its EXTREMELY good for you. You'll be surprised though, how sugar cravings in general tend to disappear when you stop drinking juice and pop.

    2. Only keep fresh fruit and veggies cut up in the fridge for snacking. Find dips and dressings you really like. Me and my bf (former chip junkies) will sit there and eat sliced red pepper, brocolli, button mushrooms, celery, carrots and radishes all night with a little hummus or ranch. You get addicted to it! I can eat a whole head of broc in one sitting if im not paying attention. You can also make wicked low-cal chocolate cashew dips for fruit. And when you eat a meal keep in mind what your plate should look like: half veggies, 1/4 carbs, 1/4 protein. And keep in mind potato is a carb not a veggie!

    3.Avoid dairy and non-organic meat. I'm not saying you have to ditch these altogether. But I have recommended this to a lot of women especially for belly fat. Too much estrogen in the body leads to fat accumulation. There are lots of things in our environment that are not estrogen but mimic its effects in the body with a lot more destruction. Livestock and dairy cows are pumped full of hormones on a regular basis, the type of hormones that mimic estrogen. They also eat feed coated in pesticides (also mimics estrogen) which accumulates in their tissues every time they eat those pesticides (and yours too!). If it comes from a can the can liner also contains a chemical that mimics estrogen. Dairy cattle have to be kept constantly nursing, so they have elevated cattle estrogen levels on top of that! AGAIN, you do not need to remove these things from your diet entirely, just cut back! Hint: smoked tofu tastes like smoked gouda. I use it instead of cheese all the time. And contrary to popular belief soy protects your body against harmful estrogens!

    4. Baby steps. Don't push yourself too hard all at once. Otherwise its just a 'diet' instead of a lifestyle change. You need to eat healthy for life to lose weight, not just temporarily. Make a plan for yourself of foods you want to limit, and foods you want to eat more of. Stick to it, but don't beat yourself up if you cheat. And whatever you do don't count calories! Its a very annoying way to fail at a diet. I still eat chips now and then, I just don't eat the whole bag in one sitting anymore, and its not self control, its because I don't want to anymore. I still have a gingerale once in a while but usually only at a BBQ or an event.
    Your taste buds completely regenerate themselves every two weeks, so if these foods do not sound appealing to you keep in mind that if you can tolerate a new diet for just two weeks chances are you will change your cravings for good. Especially sugar cravings.

    I will say one last thing to you: you may never be a petite little skinny waif girl. And there is nothing wrong with that. you can have a little belly fat or bigger thighs and still be perfectly healthy and at an optimum weight. I meet too many women who want the 23" waist and starve and stress over it when they are beautiful and thin as it is. Don't make it about image: make it about how you feel, make it about energy levels and being healthy and the image you want will follow. You seem wise beyond your years though, I'm sure you know what you're doing. Good luck to you kee! I'm sure you'll look beautiful at homecoming next year :)

    Hi Kee. One of the tricks I've learned is raw food. I limit how much i eat cooked food. It makes me fill fuller and more eneergentic to have something solid and healthy in me.

    hello, i would like to recommend you few things which i had tried on myself and got amazing results ,

    1) go for cardio workout dont do it at once ,break your working out session into small sessions in frequent interval,

    2)avoid food having high sugar content or starch in it if you feel carving for sugar go for having fruits specially citrus ones like oranges

    3)drink a glass of lukewarm water added with 2 teaspoon of honey and 2 teaspoon of lemon juice into it everyday in the morning with an empty stomach

    4)quench your hunger for food with ,skimmed milk (without sugar) or curd , (you can add diced fruit into whipped curd and sprinkle rock salt on it it tastes really great)

    5)avoid meat preferr fish and egg whites

    6) never ever eat after 8 in the evening

    7)if you are feeling hungry after 8 pm try quenching your hunger with raw vegetables lyk tomatoes or sprouted beans

    8)you will b able to see the esults in a month last one but very important have patience and faith in yourself , go for shopping purchase clothes which you want to get fit into in advance, get yourself photographed at the end of every month and compare the results

    i think you should start swimming .... it melts away the fat without u feeling it (join the swim team ) ....if you can't swim learn n after awhile u will look spectacualar in ur bathing suit . please i beg u do not eat at rastaraunts or anywhere outside home except ur school cafeteria (if u are not comfortable with that food bring food to school example :sandwhich,apple n water if ur mom cooks fatty foods get her to cook more healthily, with less fats n oils on weekends u can maybe treat urself with a pizza or a icecream cone but don't go overboard soooo.....that's all u need to get as light as me !!! it's all experience stay away from restaraunts !!!!!!! THEY R EVIL!!!!!!!!!!

    Sugar is very bad for your health. There are complex and simple carbs, simple being sugar. I just mentioned that because I have a healthy weight but I hate salads. :) Sugar makes you gain weight, and does nothing except taste good. Real food tastes better anyway. I had a friend who went on a diet where she didn't eat any sugar, but kept eating real food, along with fruits and vegatables with it. I knew her, and she really did lose weight. Everyone is a little different, so I don't know if it will help you, but it's woth a try right?



    If you have hunger issues, I have a unique piece of advice for that. I am not saying you should starve yourself, that is the worst thing you can do to yourself. And I'm kinda a weird person, so eh. But I fasted for one day and hit "the wall" where you don't think you can go anymore, then I passed it. I discovered food isn't always so much for hunger, but out of habit, or because of emotions. This may not be healthy for you, so I don't recommend it if you have health issues or don't think you can do it. It was an interesting experience for me, but that's me, a stranger on the internet.



    Your weight might not be fat, maybe muscles and bone density among other thing. So if you can, learn your body fat percentage and find out what a healthy one if supposed to be. Work towards a healthy body fat percentage instead of "weight." There is no universal "healthy weight" it depends on the person. Go see your doctor, and I wish you luck with this.
