Want To Lose Weight But Lack Motivation

I have been trying to lose weight for a while. I'm 21 yrs old and I weigh 240 lbs. I tried going to the gym but after a few months I stopped going. My excuse was that I didn't know what equipment to use and how to use it. Then I tried home workout dvds and got bored after a while. I really want to lose weight because I hate my body. When I was younger I would be teased because of my weight now that I'm older I want to do something about it. Not only to boost my self esteem but to prevent any medical problems. My family has a long history of diabetes luckily I don't but I'm scared that I might be heading that way. My goal is to lose 100 pounds. Any ideas on how to stay motivated or workouts?

Hey! Have you tried beachbody? They have so many different programs, and also shakeology (a meal replacement) it definitely helps!

My friend request with you only does any good if you stay in touch.

To help keep you motivated and accountable.

If you don't stick to your weight loss goals or to your meal plan etc. then you not only waste your time but also other peoples time.

I want you to succeed in achieving your health and weight loss goals but you have to be the person that wants it the most!

Hi, i'm a 29 year old female who has struggled with weight for as long as I can remember. I was just recently diagnosed with metabolic syndrome. To those who don't know, its a cocktail of issues all smashed into one ball of hopelessness. (i.e. high sugar, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, low good cholesterol, heart issues, water weight, etc, etc.) Heart disease, and diabetes runs in my family, so I am borderline doomed. I have very little time to correct the issues before it's too late. I've tried dieting, and lost a few pounds, but then it just plateaus, and I gain it back. I am currently between 225/230.

I bought a bike, but I work long hours, and by the time I get home, its too dark to ride and I don't feel safe doing so.

I need help. I lack motivation, and will power. I want to fix this SO bad, but I always get discouraged and feel like I will fail, so I give up and ask myself, "What's the point?"

I've tried the green coffee beans, i've tried counting calories, slim fast, the gym (bad knees from weight, and clueless to everything but the treadmill). What can I do? I'm fading, and i'm scared to death that I won't make it to 40 due to all my risks. I'm getting to the point where I don't have the energy to walk up the stairs, and when I do, i'm out of breath, and i've also recently acquired certain food allergies.

I have a 6 year old boy that I need to be around for. Someone give me some advise. Please.

Might I ask for a friend request in addition to you keeping in touch on here or some other way if your really interested in getting fit and healthy as well as continuing on that path. I can not help if we do not stay in contact somehow.

What ever you decide to do. Do not give up.
You now know what does not work.

1. The bike was a good idea but it does not fit into your life style.
2. Green coffee did not work for you.
3. Slim fast did not work for you.
4. The gym did not work for you.

So now you need to try something different. What I know 100% that will not work is if you give up.

I assume the 6 year old is your child and your child deserves to have you around. You deserve to be around for your child.

The real tough part is you doing it plus not cheating etc.

You have to want it!

I suggest we start a post/support group for weight loss so the support can be for everyone!

Start out with a doctors visit and get your primary care physicians ok to start a diet and exercise program.

I can help.
But YOU must want it.
Only you can stop yourself from eating the bad things that make us all gain weight.
ONLY YOU can get yourself out to exercise.
You do not need a gym membership but you do need to be active!
You do need to be consistent in your goal to be healthy and fit!
It does not have to cost money.
In fact it might save you money when you pass up the junk most people eat being unhealthy.

You can still eat them once in awhile but not all the time and not huge portions.
I am only now starting to really give a crap about my weight and health.
But I have studied for a long time.

As far as food I am sure you know what the basics are.
More veggies.
No fried foods.
Drink lots of water.
Water will help you feel full and not be starving for food calories your body may not actually need.
Vitamins if you can afford them will help your body get the nutrients it needs so your not craving food you do not need.
A minimum of 30 minutes of exercise per day.
Healthy portions so you do not store the food you eat and turn the excess into fat.
If you do not have a food scale then you can do it by measurements. Cups of food as portions.
Portion control is one of the keys to success.
Plus eating regularly.
Set up a schedule of breakfast/snack/lunch/snack/dinner.

Eating often but in small portions will keep you satisfied and not want to gorge on food because you are starving from not eating for 4-5 or more hours.

Down to 185 yesterday :) Slowly losing to get to my proper weight according to my doctor of 165 or so. :)

You can start a blog on here as well. But like my post above says start with a doctors visit to be sure your healthy enough to start dieting. As well as light exercise. 30 minutes of walking per day is a great start. Then move to other simple things like crunches or squats or leg lifts etc. the weight of your own body will provide the resistance you need instead of buying weights or joining a gym. push ups or any kind of simple work out is just fine start small with maybe 10 or 20 total then increase slowly per week. Getting fit and healthy will not happen over night but every day is a step in the right direction.
