What The Heck? Normally Skinny Girl With Weight On The Upswing....

Ok, I'll admit it, I'm aging. I turn 50 this year.  Not that you'd be able to tell by looking at me.  I took after my father genetically: he had jet black hair well into his 70's.  The main area in which it's clear I'm aging is higlighted by my increasing weight.  This year, my metabolism took a nose dive.

And I'm exercising.  I do sprint triathlons. Although I work full time (and then some), I generally spend an hour a day getting serious exercise.  Biking, running, swimming, core training, or some combination thereof.  Up until last summer, I'd been the same weight (plus or minus 4 pounds) for 15+ years.

No any more.  I'm excersiing more and my weight is going up, up, up.  No, it's not muscle.  It's just plain old fat.  I now have a stomach.  My thighs barely fit into my jeans -- and these are new jeans, by the way, 3 sized bigger than I normally wear.

What in the heck is going on?  I've not changed my diet or eating habits,, and I'm exercising more.  If this continues, I'll look like the littie girl in Willie Wonka (the first one) who turned into a blueberry!

I'm in the health field, and yes, it's the 1st thing I did. Comments were 'you're getting older.' 'Eat less & exercise more (!!!)' 'You're still not fat relative to the rest of the U.S. population.' Not very helpful!

Have you been to see your doctor? Just to see what may be causing the weight gain.
