I have been conducting surveys for roughly 17 years. The reason I chose this job is because I am an extreme introvert and I am very uncomfortable being around other people, especially  people who ask personal questions. 

The challenge that I am experiencing is that if interviewers do not meet the hourly production rate, they  are sent home, which obviously affects their pay.  I am looking for work that is best suited for me. 

At my current job, I work in the basement to avoid other co-workers and because it is quiet.  All of the other interviewers work on the main floor.  Working next to other people is quite irritating and draining for me and I don't relate to the other employees. It is especially irritating for me when I am trying to meet quota when a co-worker interrupts my work to ask me a question that is not business related.

 I am relieved to know that there are other introverts like me and I would greatly appreciate it if you could please suggest what types of jobs that might be best suited for me.  I was invited to a workshop so as to explore new job opportunities.  I turned it down claiming that the workshop was held at a time that was later than  I  would have liked. Although that is partially true, the real reason I turned down the invitation was because of my extreme fear of people.

I am single and I want to find work that I like and does not involve interactions with other people.

    There are lots of jobs that do not involve directly working with people. Scientists, accounting, forest ranger, engineer, banker, translator ... It depends on what you like to do.

    But to me, conducting surveys seems like a form of working with people, and you have been at the job for 17 years. I wonder if its that you dont want to work with people, or your social anxiety. Also it seems, you dont like socialization at work - that to me, seems to be separate issue from working with people.

    Take the Strong interest. Google it, also Career Key. Perhaps what you also need is a method to deal with people at work? Because all jobs in the end involve working with people to some point.
