with everything that is going on in my life now, I am thinking I need to stay busy to keep my head straight.

Still think we as society just don't give ourselves enough credit for the good we do.

Bob it's all true my dear! You have a wonderful wife and you are a provider. How many ppl are satisfied with less? Nope, not you, not one but two jobs and run around to keep them going. It's gonna be okay and Bora Bora is right around the corner.

I've had jobs I didn't think mattered, but I always took as much pride in them as I could. Perhaps it is time for you to start looking for a different one?

Bob, it's called the "Superman Syndrome", at least thats what my wife tells me its called.

Thats funny , only because after reading the email sh sent me, we are scary alike.

I post this cause yea I forgot a lot of it,and we dont give ourselves enough credit and I am sure everyone of us here, has a similar story we have somehow stored away as just ding the "right thing" when in honesty to someone else, it was much more.

    the Email:

I tease you about your hmmm. what shall we call it ...maybe Superman Syndrome?... you know... how you feel you are doing nothing with your life and how you feel like you should be doing something other that cutting grass for a living... like you should be out saving lives or doing something that you think would make a differance or be really really important and make a mark on the world.

Somewhere along the line you seem to have forgotten about the differance you already have made in and the lives you have saved and the lives that you are making a differance in each and everyday. My life mainly, but you don't seem to take the credit for what a mess my life would have been without you.

You were the father that my nephews never had and always wanted. You selflessly welcomed Grandma and Pa into our already much too crowded home, with arms much more wide open than my own. You worked night and day for your parents when your own brothers bailed out because they wanted to get on with their own lives. Worked who knows, how many jobs just to keep all the bills paid and food on the table. And you are the most loving adoring father any child could ever ask for. The father that I wish I had as a child and I think the father you wish you had as well. "MojoBuc " many people, who have finshed their education and are making money hand over fist still have not yet accomplished anything ever close to what you have done and are doing.

You should be proud of yourself! Your career choice doesn't define you! And you should not think that it does. Your career choice has provided for us, but most importantly allows us to be the family that we want to be. That is the important thing. Your family is your LEGACY! Is it going to matter in 20 years what Joe Blow thinks... No! Is it going to matter in 20 years what you children and I think of you and what they have learned from you. Absolutely! You have made more of a differance in more lives than you will ever know! I can't think of a single person that would have done the things you have done for us. You should be proud of yourself!

Ok ... I'm feeling a little sappy... do you even remember our wedding song? I chose that song because at that time in my life, the words in that song rang so true to what was going on in my life at that time and they still you! I love you so much and hope you realize how much I love you and how proud I am to say that you are my husband and the father of my children. Just in case you forgot our wedding song I looked up the lyrics for you.

You are leading a productive life and making it. We aren't all meant to be lawyers but we do what we must to get by and make it work. I admire that you are so hard working and dedicated and your turn will come around darlin'. Happiness is there just waiting for you.

Its up to you. You like millions , are mercenaries in life. We work for other people for money and we use that money for food, shelter, clothing and transportation for ourselves and those we love. We give up much to gain these things. Some go out and work for themselves in something that they love so that there is more meaning in their work hours. So, every day you have a choice.

On another take, an influential person during some difficult school and home years of my youth was a janitor at our high school ....old Mr. Watts who uplifted the spirits of others. So, you could be uplifting the lives of others in ways you don't know.

I've always taken pride in whatever I was doing even if I thought I could be doing more. You can hate the environment but still like what you are contributing if that makes any sense.

All we really have is this very moment. Dwelling on the past or projeccting into the future waists the precious present. Sometimes we have to do things that we don't want to do so we can do the things we want to do.

Do you like your work? That’s the most important question after all. If you like what you do you can always see a reason even though you doubt it sometimes (I can understand that very well). What would change if you did something else? And what keeps you from doing it? Lots of weird questions, I know. ;D I hope they are helpful, though.

As far as I can see you do a lot of good things apart from work and I find them very impressive, actually. Maybe this can keep the balance in your life?

Ah, Mr. Frost. If only there was something to say but I'm in the same boat as you are.

I know it feels like you could be do something bigger and better, but try to take comfort in the fact that at least you're doing some good with your time, which is helping and being there for the people you know and love.

I hope that helps, even if it's only a wee bit.

I do that at any job, when I had a job that helped the public 24/7, I was thinking and worrying that I wasn't doing enough/spending enough time w/my family...so I think it's prob. just our personalities.
