Hi! Thank you for commenting. When I was tightlacing I did lose weight but it was not just the tight lacing alone that did this. During my year of doing tightlacing, I did loads of research into tightlacing and into the diets of many women from that period. I was lucky to find some information on eating mini meals. When you tightlace your stomach is smaller and so your diet must be modified. I eliminated fizzy drinks from my diet as well as spicy food. As with a corset the gas in my stomach would make tightlacing uncomfortable and as for the spicy food. I would get heart burn throughout the whole day. Sorry for the long answer but I just wanted you to see the things that I had to do, which contributed to me losing weight. If you don't mind modifying your diet go for it and good luck!

I think it's nice to have one very very nice cirset and not wear it all the time and have a few that are more for traing purposes than loks.

Good luck with your tightlacing and please keep me posted.

At the moment I wear my corset all the time except when I'm showering or exercising. However , I have noticed that some people stress that it's important to buy one where as others, say a sleeping corset isn't vital.

    Thanks for your advice. x

Yes it is. You want to be tighlaced 24/7 except when exercising ,showering or doing things in which the tightlaced corset isn't practical.

Also I'm not really looking for something sexy and fun :-), just wondering if a sleeping corset is essential to tightlacing, as many people I have spoke to think that it is essential, if you are really serious about tightlacing/waist training.

First I would ask are you looking for something sexy and fun to wear while sleeping or are you corset training?

The problem with sleeping in a corset is that it can be somewhat uncomfortable and may cause sleeping problems. So sometimes a sleeping corset is just a simpler, less fancy corset worn a little less tightly. It's a good idea to take off your regular daytime corset and let it breath.

An old corset would do quite nicely. Depending on where you are at in your corset training, you could wear a corset as tightly laced at night as you do during the day. It's all a matter of sleeping comfort. The material matters more in the summertime. A natual fibre that will breath will be more comfortable to sleep in. Save your fancy satin corsets for day wear.

The primary reason for wearing a sleeping corset is to reduce wear and tear and increase the life of your better corsets, while maintaining the contraction while you sleep.

if your old one is comforatbelf ro sleeping than by all means use that, as long as you are not compromising your training regime by wearing a corset that is stretched out and not givng you the support.

I've only resumed wearring my corset in the past week or so after about a year lay off. It's kind of old so I don't worry about wear and tear.

The first night I couldn't keepit on all night. The second night I loosened it a bit but by the third night I was able to get to sleep with it laced as tightly as during the day.

You should wear a chemise ir slip under the corset to keep it clean. Then you won't have to wash it as often and can just air it out. I dry it by hanging it in front of the fan and sit there like Peanuts' Linus waiting for his security blanket to come out of the wash. Once I've started 24/7 wear, I become addicted to it and hate to take it off. So I wash it before I get into the shower and it's usually dry by the time I'm dry enough to put it back on.

My current corset is not that great and whe I reach my weight goals I'm going to order a cutome fitted one and get a less expensive one for sleeping .
