Britain's Biggest Challenge

If you are looking for a tough challenge, don't discount UK events as being too easy or too close to home.

Squash Falconer is an adventurer and mountaineer who has dimbed Everest and is the first woman to fly a paraglider from the summit of Mont Blanc. In September 2011 she cyded from Land's End to John o' Groats with three other riders to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, British Heart Foundation and Treetops Hospice.

You might think that after her adventures on Everest a charity bike ride would be a doddle. Not so, says Falconer: "Riding over 1,000 miles was hard. It was a different challenge to anything else I have done.

"I've wanted to do something on a bike for ages. After Everest I thought it was good because it would be my answer to what's next and get my fitness back up.
I want to inspire people and, yes, people get it but they aren't going to dimb Everest or fly off Mont Blanc but they just might ride Land's End to |ohn o' Groats. It's not expensive, you can do it in a relatively short time, and actually, yes, it is a really big challenge."
