It is the kindness of complete strangers that I find so ironic. I hear stories of abuse and neglect within families, relationships and communities, where people know each so well. Yet the kindness of complete strangers can be just as frequent... why does this happen? I suppose I can cite various examples, but my underlying question is still why does this happen?

Love it.. not many out there

I completely agree. During my darkest times it has never been friends or family that have been there for me but strangers. It's true. My family has deeply hurt me so I cannot trust them and I'm far too guarded to let friends really in. In fact, I expect nothing from anyone. Yet, casual acquaintances seem to pick up on my pain and have gotten me through my deepest despair. How exactly does that work?
