I Appreciate the Little Things In Life
There’s a lot to be said about grand, sweeping gestures. Huge extravagant displays of romantic or friendly affection. Who doesn’t love to feel special in an over-the-top sort of way? But one thing that I have realized over time is not to overlook the small, ordinary, even mundane things that make the people you care about smile. Sometimes the tiniest thing, that take little to no effort, are really what hold relationships together. More often than not, people use big gestures as a way to make up for a lot of little things that they have forgotten....or let go by the wayside... Bold and dramatic displays are great, but flowers...they just die. Dinners are consumed. Jewelry gets lost...or broken. Writing gets forgotten in the stationary. But sincere kindness, especially on the days when you really need it most, never loses value. Genuine support, especially when you lose faith in yourself, is never forgotten.
