We Have All Been There

Yes we have ALL been emotionally hurt at some point or another. This story really hits home for me in a lot of ways. We all have our defects. Read these words and I think you'll get my point..

I'm a little boy with glasses

The one they call the geek

A little girl who never smiles

'Cause I've got braces on my teeth

And I know how it feels

To cry myself to sleep

I'm that kid on every playground

Who's always chosen last

A single teenage mother

Tryin' to overcome my past

You don't have to be my friend

But is it too much to ask

Don't laugh at me

Don't call me names

Don't get your pleasure from my pain

In God's eyes we're all the same

Someday we'll all have perfect wings

Don't laugh at me

I'm the cripple on the corner

You've passed me on the street

And I wouldn't be out here beggin'

If I had enough to eat

And don't think I don't notice

That our eyes never meet

I lost my wife and little boy when

Someone cross that yellow line

The day we laid them in the ground

Is the day I lost my mind

And right now I'm down to holdin'

This little cardboard sign...so

Don't laugh at me

Don't call me names

Don't get your pleasure from my pain

In God's eyes we're all the same

Someday we'll all have perfect wings

Don't laugh at me

I'm fat, I'm thin, I'm short, I'm tall

I'm deaf, I'm blind, hey, aren't we all

Don't laugh at me

Don't call me names

Don't get your pleasure from my pain

In God's eyes we're all the same

Someday we'll all have perfect wings

Don't laugh at me

This is a very meaningful post and needs to come around again. The words are poignant and should not be forgotten..

Thank you for posting it..

If only the world was so kind, alas it can be a cruel harsh place where people do laugh at you, mock you, call you names..........I wish it wasn't so.

A biopsy. Is that what's going on, Princess? I don't laugh at anyone's pain. I feel your your pain and my prayers are with you...

Thank you Princess for sharing this, I cried while I was listening to this as I remembered my past.

stumbled upon this and i am glad i did. oh yes, we all ned to nurture our compassion, we are all frail humans who need each others love and support, through the cruel dissapointments of life.

That was awesome....I think I will re post this on facebook.

I just read this, PM (I haven't been around much for a while) and I'm once again awed at the beautiful spirit I always see shining through your words. As always, your words--or in this case, choice of another's words--ring so true, and bring tears to my eyes. You are an incredibly wise and caring woman, and I'm proud and honored that we call each other "friend."

i have that on my ipod and was listening to it while i read it isn't that funny? lol. don't laugh at me sung by mark wills, i don't know if he wrote it. that was me in school, kids are brutal in elementary and middle school, and then there's high school. i always wanted to disapear from the earth and die when i was young starting at age 6 or so. so i really understand the song for the most part. i could not imagin losing a child though.

False Pride... people put others down to feel better about themselves. It;s a real shame.

The sad fact is that children do what we do, not what we say. They learn the behavior at home.

I know the feeling, I was the brunt of many laughs when I was younger, lucky for me I found "my solution and escape" to all my problems when I was 8. And miraculously, I was freely given "the solution" when I was 39.
Bullying still breaks my heart today. Thanks for sharing this...hugs

Awesome post. Unfortunately, I can identify with more than a few things....

that is beautiful+im sure we can all identify with 1 or more parts of it

The person who learns to laugh at themselves generally has little concern for what others are laughing at.

Thanks for sharing PM. Very inspiring......

If we could learn to look at another with our heart insread of our eye's. I wonder what life would be like if God had placed a safety check within each of us. One that each time you hurt another you yourself felt the same pain that you caused.

These are such amazing lyrics, they relate to most people which makes it perfect!

people can be so mean by laughting at you. ive been laughted at . and its not funny
thanks for sharring that . huggsss

wow i have tears in my eyes reading that thank you

Such a wonderful song and really hits home for me also. Thanks for posting it.

This is wonderful and should be in all classrooms and posted in every kids room!! Thanks for sharing!!!!

really wonderful post..thanks for sharing! i think we should all keep a copy of this handy and read it from time to time, just to remind ourselves that we all come from the same place, and it only takes one misfortune to land in the narrator's place.

Wow .. thanks for posting this! My 11 yo daughter has Aspergers and since Kindegarten has been picked on, rejected and bullied at school. I use to have this poem (or song) taped to a binder that I hold all her special education papers in. Somehow I lost it. Glad to have found it again.

I was shy and often picked on in school. But it is nothing compared to what she goes through. I think I suffer more than she does. Kids really suck sometimes.
