Depressed With Anxiety Disorder

I was diagnosed many years ago with severe depressive disorder /anxiety disorder, and now have been told that I am bipolar. I am in a foreign country with no friends yet and am really feeling isolated and alone. The anxiety and depression have gone "over the top". I have a doctor with whom I am working in the U.S. but meds don't seem to be helping as they should. Is anyone out there suffering like I am? Please respond as I feel pretty desolate.
