the thing that's helped me the most is trying to live in the moment (not the past or the future).  therapy didn't help me much, but I think I just had the wrong therapist.  The Power of Now (by Eckhart Tolle) had a big impact on breaking some of my negative thought patterns.  I have to practice being in the moment when things feel ok so that I can deal w/ things better when I'm not feeling ok.
