Suffering For The First Time With Deppression

I'm currently under the doctor and phycologist suffering for the first time with deppression. I'm finding it very hard to motivate myselve to do the simplest of tasks -I'm not sleeping well and just feel so tired al the time. I'm confused about feeling this way, I'm 53 now and have always until now managed to cope with what life had thrown at me.

I'm so sorry for all of your pain. Life should not be this difficult.
I'm sure your daughter is in counseling. I worry about my daughter sometimes because she is concerned about her body image. Although, she loves food. Our kids are our biggest concern in life, aren't they? I never stop worrying about my kids!! I wish we could go back to when they were small and just stay in that time. When we could protect them, and tuck them in at night and the biggest problem they had was not getting picked first in gym class.
Life has just overwhelmed me lately as well. I just wonder if it will ever get better. I have always had a good attitude in life and have always tried to talk to others about the importance of a good attitude and the difference it makes in life. For the first time ever, I am finding myself so challenged by what life has thrown me, that I can't seem to get back to the real me. There are so many people in this world with real problems. I don't know what your health issues are, but hopefully you're able to overcome them and feel normal again soon.
Hang in there!!

Since this is the first time you have experienced depression and you're in your 50's, did something occur to make you become depressed? Do you have situational depression?

Yes, its been an accumulation of events over the pass 2 to three years. I have had a series of medical problems that have worn me down, and last year my very good friend who was like a brother to me died, and now my 15 year old daughter has annorecia, it just all overwhelmed me.
