In Brief

Modern life is full of stress.

My cure was medication. Never wanted to resort to that, but I had to for the sake of my family. It's an illness of the brain, and often needs medical intervention. We're not built for prolonged periods of stress. Our ancestors dealt with short bursts of terror when being chased by bears or whatever, but we sometimes have to deal with day upon day of complicated emotions and our brains haven't evolved enough to cope.

Damage done can be repaired.

I hope that meds are working and remember that combining medication with talk therapy is better than one or the other by itself.

I hope the meds are working for you. I recently resorted to the same...after saying for years that I never would take meds. Its too soon to tell if they are going to have any positive effect....I'm on my 3rd attempt-- the first 2 were crap so I'm crossing my fingers on this one! Good luck!
