Children learn best from parents who have their best interest at heart. Children learn from their parents at home, so I have been an educator in sense just not formally trained. My husband and I have been consistent and dependable persons who are always there, who can help solve problems, provide new experiences, give emotional stability and love to our boys. We help our boys learn by developing their interests. I’m aware that there are trained professionals who are better at evaluating the behavior of school children because teachers have a bigger group of children for comparison; whereas, as a parent, I feel I’m better at assessing my children’s emotional state. As a parent, I also feel that along with my husband, we are the greatest influences on our children and their first and best teachers. We both teach the boys on knowing how to begin, how to continue their own work, how to find ownership, direction, and delight in what they do. We also teach them how to get to know themselves as thinkers, how to work with others, and most importantly who they are.
