Way back in high school he and a buddy were headed to a college for his college interview. We broke down, and with no cell phone we had to walk to get help.
Two young guys walking down the highway, there was no way anybody was picking us up. We walked for 2 hours till we got to the closest town. It was 32C outside and we cooked walking down that pavement. we tried a few houses but again, no one was opening the door for two guys that appeared at their door with no vehicle.
Since then I look at hitchhikers differently. Being one opened my eyes. Now if I see someone walking down the road and I have the room I make the time to pick them up.
Most of them are pretty nice people, and the conversation makes the drive go faster.
