Prayer and Fasting

I figured out, by fasting (with prayer), why God asks us to fast. It is all about learning self control. If we can control so basic a need such as eating, we will be much better prepared to control our other cravings and desires. Like: anger, sexuality, selfishness, resentments. Fasting is a training ground from which we can derive some of the spiritual maturity that we all need.

Thanks for your post. I agree with what you've said and it has hit home! I have recently had an experience where God has guided me through tremendous pain and heartache, which has impacted both my mental and physical well being. He has shown me that, indeed, He is all that I need, ever. I live and experience life very deeply and I have fasted many times. It does clear my focus on life and it does put thing into proper perspective. I am grateful for such an intuitive and natural relief as fasting is. Peace

true indeed, i love to fast

Very true - thanks for posting that!

You are so correct! :-)
Rom 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
To live life outside the flesh and in the spirit of love is great! :-) You are a smart cookie! :-) (pardon the pun)

interesting point, i havent really thought of it like that b4. i always thought of it as fasting to try and get a revelation from God, which that may happen also, but as you said, for help us through other things instead of letting our flesh take hold.
