How Are Scents Related To Ghosts And Spirits?

My mother tends to smell flowers before someone passes away.

The night before my uncle died I smelled a strong scent of sweet bubble gum, and of course, my mother did not fail to sense the smell of flowers. Both of these occurrences do not have an explanation. There were no flowers or bubblegum for either of us to smell. I've heard the scent of flowers anticipates death, while someone once told me the smell of bubblegum is related to angels. I'm not sure if that is accurate, but all of this does cause me to believe I am somehow linked to spirits or ghosts through scents.

Anyway, it's been months now that I notice I tend to get a random smell of lipstick. It happens to me mostly in my home, but I know it's not coming from someone or somewhere outside. I am positive this is not just a scent traveling in the air. The smell of lipstick is strong and appears out of the blue. I feel as though someone is trying to tell me something, but I cannot decode the message. What can this mean? Has anyone experienced something like this?

I have had the scent of men's shower gel going thru my house. I haven't had a male friend in my home for over 2 years. The only person who I could think of that smelled like just stepping out of a shower with men's shower gel was my ex-boyfriends son. He passed away in April from a drug overdose. Could it be him?

If there is any doubt in your mind about the power of scent, its effect on our minds, bodies, or its relevance to ghost and haunting phenomenon, or for that matter about the importance to the human organism from a survival perspective read this article. Frankly, I think it is the best hypothesis yet proposed for ghosts and hauntings. thatwhichremains.com

My wife liked to wear White Shoulder's perfume, she died suddenly at the age of 47 in 2003.

I was not able to sleep in the days following her death before her funeral, I would lay in bed in night and rather than sleep would curse God for taking my children's mother away from them, I worried about being a lousy father and not being able to take care of two young teenagers that she left at in my care, I had been a workaholic and she was a stay at home mom. I felt overwhelmed about now taking over her job as well as my own.

On the night before her funeral I was in the middle of a rant cursing a God that would take a mother away from her babies, suddenly an overpowering smell of White Shoulders perfume enveloped me and I felt her presence in the room with me. I stopped my ranting and instead of cursing God for taking her away I thanked God for the good times that we had shared and for the three fruits from her body that she left for me to raise.
I slept soundly that night and somehow survived----

I used to get a couple random smells at my old house that I lived in for most of my life, but I never noticed this till I was a teenager. I think I wrote a story about it here somewhere.

I live in a very old house and often get the strong smell of scented face-powder such as was worn in the 1940s and 50s. Also, in a back bedroom which usually has no smell at all, I have occasionally walked in to find an overpowering smell of a sick-room, with a very old, musty smell and a hint of disinfectant.

Thank you guys :)

That is really neat

That is funny that you should be commenting on scents. I had a brother who died quite some time ago and like all of our loved ones, he had a certain manly scent about him

Right after he died I would sometimes smell that scent (by the way I had a shirt of his) and knew immediately that he was watching over me.

While I do not know the meaning of the lipstick smell, I do know that it probably has something to do with one of your own family members passing.

I wish you well.
