There Is Only One God

I believe we have a maker, and that there is only one GOD. Those who believes in the unseen prey to the same God although they do it in different way. We all will meet God one day.

A BRAND NEW LIFE GIVEN TO ME

I am about to share a true life experience that happened to me more than Ten Years ago. I was born into a family that could afford me luxury and comfort; I was privileged to attend one of the best schools in my country. Life for me was exciting and at its peak. I never really cared about religion because as far as I was concerned, it was for the ignorant and the misfits of the society. This all changed with an experience I had, it all happened in October 1999, when I was travelling from my home to another city , like I earlier said I came from a family that could provide me with luxury, so I travelled with my Father who was a top government official in his official car with his aide. We arrived at our destination in about Three hours. Upon arrival I felt a little uneasy and I had a prompting within me that I must return back from where I was coming from immediately. I told my father who naturally would have refused but surprisingly he obliged to my going back. The aide was told to take me back
Two days after my arrival while waiting for my Father’s return I heard the most shocking news ever that my father was involved in a ghastly motor Accident which claimed lives. I found this hard to believe but it was true. I went to the hospital and saw him half dead. At this point I completely overwhelmed as I felt Gods love and mercy upon my soul, I then realized that if I had stayed I could have died in the Accident. I was crying because I wondered why God would show undeserved mercy to me who never gave him audience in my life. It was at this moment I saw the guilt of my sin: my fornication, telling lies, stealing, Fighting, using abusive words, anger, hatred, bitterness, malice, jealousy, greed and all my sinful indulgence etc.
I know God hates these things because it is at variance with his word. I then asked him for forgiveness and Promised him that I would never do those things he Dislikes, If despite all my ills towards him he still showed love to me, I received His Son Jesus as my Lord and Personal savior, as the person that paid the price for my sin by coming in a human form more than 2,000 yrs ago to die for our sins so as to reconcile sinful man to a loving God. It’s now more than Ten years and God has Given me the Grace not to go back to my sins and evil acts, It’s a miracle that I can’t explain, that I can do without Fornication , engaging in sinful indulgences etc. I can now say that I am truly a child of God. I now know peace that I can’t explain, my life is filled with God’s love and Joy. I am so Grateful to God and His Son Jesus for the Brand new Life I have received. I believe that Jesus is Lord and that he has prepared a place of Glory for his people. I believe that when he comes to take his own I would be with him in Glory. I really Love God because he Sent his Son Jesus to Die for my Sins, I am Proud of Him. I owe my Life entirely to him.
I also love you dear reader , and I pray that you would also experience what i experienced, but the choice is yours , why not give him a chance in your life, why not let him in, and you would experience this peace , love and joy that this world can’t give. First start by confessing your sins, Then accept Jesus as lord and Personal Savior, and promise him you won’t go back to your sinful ways, don’t worry if you are sincere He would give you the grace not to go back to sinful indulgence. All this is done by closing your eyes and saying a few prayers then you would experience what I am talking about. I love you because the love of God Flows from my heart to you. Thank you and God bless you.

ike1, I like your line of thinking. That's what i like of your viewpoint; we are important to the Lord as an individual, not as a group, eg. congregation. He loves us SO, that he will leave His existing 'flock', to seek and bring back that person who got lost and all the rest will rejoice.

I differ a little about the 'good works'. God first loved us out of His grace - then we have to except that and out of our thankfulness we have to do the good works. That is the practical side it, like you said, it cannot only be in your head, it must be your whole being. Then you will strive to be a reborn person and you will only make mistakes as a sinner, but you will come back and ask for forgiveness and you will not continue to be a sh **. So, good works ALLONE can not save us. We must EXCEPT (like a present only becomes your property after you except it) Christ Jesus' love for salvation.
I also agree with you on the brain we received from the Lord. We have to use it to investigate His Word (like you did) to make informed decisions and our own choices. If we make the wrong choices, we have to pay the prise for these mistakes.

I can appreciate your point of view 'oupa' and thank you, but consider this:
Christians like to say we are saved by "Grace" where as the old tetament proclaims salvation due from "good works". It has to be both, doing good works but denying in one's heart the existence of God is not the path. Conversley, simply believing in Christ as our savior but being a pile of s{hit} for your entire life can't get the job done either. I don't believe that it's as black and white as simply "believing in your heart" that Christ was given unto us by the father and died on the cross, shedding his blood on the Earth as a repentence for all of man's sins. I am a good person by nature and at heart, yet I struggle with the reckoning of a savior and of Heaven. My intellegence is above average and I possess the neccessary faculties for abstract thought, therefore if I was created in my father's image then that should logically or rationaly mean that God understands this and sees it in me, he does not wish, in my opinion, for us to be blind, deaf and dumb to the world and to the nature of man's thoughts and inclings and simply follow the path because we were told to do so by those who came before us, without question.
He would, I surmise, be more inclined to cherish a person with doubts and confusion, with questions about the truth as observed in life, in relationships with others, in nature, in his experiences; if the shepherd has a hundred sheep and one strays, does he not leave his flock and seek to return that one which is lost, is that one not more important to him than the ninety nine, because he is lost? To paraphrase

ike1, it is that very simple. Just believe in a LOVING God that cannot allow sins to be unpunished. That's why He send His only begotten son = Jesus Christ, to carry our sins and Jesus was punished on the cross on our behalf. If you believe this and love Jesus, you are saved and
will have eternal life.
All the other things you said about the Bible and the people who wrote it, are so spot-on!
Just believe in Christ the Lord, as YOUR personal SAVIOR, because we need Him to carry our sins. It's not necessary to go though different live stages, because it does not exists and we cannot save ourselves. Accept Jesus as your savior and you will be reborn immediately! Lol.

I so wish it were that simple for me.... I want nothing more than to believe in God but I think that religion skews our view of what God is. I think if there is a God, it's not the way people see it. A being so powerful and seemingly benevolent as God could not or would not possibly punish a good person for missing the point, I don't believe God would cast a righteous person into an eternal pit of fire simply for making mistakes, or for not believing in the explicit word of the bible. The books of the bible, no matter what the church would have you believe, were written by men and thus fallible. Although the bible is a very cohesive and time tested document, it's books, it's writings are subject to the whims, interpretations and weaknesses of the human mind, the books of the bible were written by many different people over a 1500 year period and have been transcribed and translated hundreds of times.
However one cannot deny the extreme logic inherent in the writings therin, nor can one deny the profound impact that the bible has made to humanity. I just don't think we should take every aspect of the bible in a literal sense, it should be used as a map of the past and a guide to the present and to our future.
I believe that heaven is possibly a metaphore for the ascension of sentient beings, that there is in a sense, an afterlife which is akin to reincarnation in that one is reborn and continues to evolve in the next life and the next and so on until one can acheive a state of "God like" existence or benevolence.
To me this seems far more logical than believing in a "jealous" God, or an "angry" God, or a God that would punish someone for something which is beyond their control, such as being homosexual or that heaven means sitting on an everlasting kindom, or damned to a pit of misery with no progress or change for all of eternity.
