I Believe In Heaven
My first knowledge of Heaven came during Sunday school. I pictured God; a white guy with a long white beard, wearing long billowy flowing white robes. Heaven was above, and God was floating up in the clouds in Heaven...looking down on us, watching and taking notes on our lives.
To get to Heaven, you had to repent your sins, accept Jesus as your savior. Then when you die, you would arrive at the pearly gates. There, they looked to see if your name was in a big book, the Book of Life. If they found your name there, you would gain entrance to heaven. Angels would be blowing trumpets.... golden streets, happiness, and of course, you would meet God, with Jesus sitting next to him. Everything would be great, right?
My view has changed over the years. I still believe in Heaven and God, just not in those descriptions or terms. I mean, is God really a white guy? People always see God as a reflection of themselves. We are taught what to believe from a very young age. And a majority of people will never question what they are taught.
Anyways, Heaven was a place you supposedly would spend all of eternity. It would be great, all your needs taken care of. No sickness or death. You got to see your family members who preceded your death.
This could very well be true. All of it, every bit of it.
It is just too simplistic, too one dimensional, Heaven is much more.
God exists as a universal consciousness.
All things are a part of this consciousness. Everything. I do not doubt afterlife. Upon death, our consciousness exists outside of the body. Our essence, our soul, exists in another form... energy. Modern physics tells us that energy is a part of everything we know, a scientific fact. Our consciousness is alive, it survives, just in another form.
While our lives here on Earth are short. They say in the end its just a blink of an eye. What we do here, now, today, is part of the Heaven we create for ourselves. Our lives have meaning when we try to advance our consciousness through good works; giving of ourselves, fighting the good fight. Doing what is right, no matter the consequences. Even in failing, you succeed in advancing your Heaven.
People have forgotten the important things in their struggle to survive, or acquire material wealth. I have known very wealthy people, with all the creature comforts money can buy, who seem empty. Yet, some of the poorest people I have met, are the happiest and most generous. Accumulation of material wealth is not the most important thing in raising consciousness or attaining happiness.
Proof of Heaven is all around us; When a parent sacrifices for their child, Heaven is created. When we love unconditionally we create Heaven. Heaven can be when you smell a red rose in full bloom. Heaven may be the description I gave about the pearly gates, if that is what you believe it to be. I see and feel Heaven every time I look into the innocent blue eyes of my great niece. Heaven is so many things...there are infinite possibilities in creating Heaven for yourself and others.
I see Proof of Heaven everywhere, I hope others see it too.
