I Can't Help

I was born in a village I didn't choose,

from parents I didn't choose,

in a country I didn't choose.

I'm not unhappy

but I know I didn't choose.

or did I?

My nation, it seems,

is very, very big.

Way too big, it spans the world.

It doesn't look like many people though.

I almost recognize them on the streets,

back home or in the orient.

They are my friends,

I'm proud of them.

They are my brothers of the soul.

Some are shy and some are shining,

all loyal and honest.

I admire this noble crowd.
