Deceit

According to Wikipedia there are reported to be approximately 38,000 Christian denominations. Each of these denominations has different beliefs. Each denomination considers itself to be the true religion of Christianity.

Just one thought - are all religions really on an equal foot when only one religious leader ever claimed to be the divine Son of God?

My point exactly, your version of God according to your religion. Not Allah, Buddah, Krishna, or any other deity which millions of others subscribe to. Secular religions proclaim that all other religions are false and are contrary to every other religion. I prefer to believe in a spirit in the sky, all encompassing, going beyond secular boundaries, ethnicities, continents, and races.

well, my God is a God of love.... I can only live knowing that hopefully someone will see "my God" thru my actions and that I have no aspirations to condemn anyone because they believe differently... And I sure don't want to fight them over their land, resources, or because of how their "government" operates. But religion/churches provides a way for people to educate themselves with doctrine and hear interpretations of doctrine. Religion allows people to express their spirituality either through music, ministry, or teaching. It also provides a means of fellowship with people with similar beliefs.



Many causes of religious wars have roots from the Old Testament times, particularly Jacob and Esau. Christians are drug into that argument because we believe in the same God as the Jews but recognize Jesus as the Son of God.



I am definately NOT a theologian and am not versed on doctrine to argue any further. I just know how I believe in my little corner of my world. I have no arguments with anyone's religion and beliefs, I have the option of witnessing to them thru my actions and I can always pray for them whether they want me too or not! :o)

I agree that's part of the problem, but Christianity, Islam, Judaism, etc. all claim to be the one true religion and all others false. Which is right? Consider Ireland for example where different Christian factions have fought each other killing thousands.

I disagree--- religion is not deceitful- it's the morons that claim to be inspired to lead churches that are the ones full of deceit! Human and "god-like" are antonyms. That's why we put faith in a higher power and not the individuals who lead our churches.
