Where Have Our Manners Gone?

When i was growing up a man always held the door open for a woman; car or building. Today i do not see it very often.
Last night I was leaving a restaurant in the city. The couple in front of us kissed outside the door and parted company. He left her to go to her car by herself.
Sad.

Since we were young, women's lib came along. I still hear, now and then, a woman declaring her dismay that a guy would "disrespect her independence" by opening a door or expecting to paying her way on a date. So -- maybe guys are confused about manners these days?

Nelladell; thank you for reading and responding. I know you are right in that line of thinking. It happens to me every now and then, but I probably get thanked 4 or 5 times to the 1 where a woman will tell me she can handle the door, or just gives me an icy stair. I am a big boy and I can handle it.

Great reply. Am glad that there is evidence of shining armor.

I want to note here that I have not had to open a door in several years except sometimes upon exiting a bathroom. Men, women, and grinning children come on the double or seem to materialize from the ether when I am aimed at one. These people bring great joy to my old age; people like you.

Thank you for your kind words.
With you karma; the fact that good is quickly attracted to you certainly does not surprise me.

umm -- I'm thinking age, actually. But thanks.
