My Dad Showed Me

When I was a teenager my Dad used to do little things for me. I couldn't ride the bus home after school, so I would walk the two miles home (I got kicked off for the school year for fighting as a freshmen and from then I had no interest in riding it again). He would do whatever he had to do to give me a ride home.
He would sit there and watch football games with me. He would even make bets with me (for washing the car, or washing dishes that night). He never put me down for being into "manly" sports like my mother and sister did. He accepted me for who I was.
When it was my turn to make dinner he would help me. We spent a lot of time just talking. He was the only one who bothered to spend time with me. He even let me help him work on the car.
What he taught me was that it's the little things that make you feel good. When I am spoiling a lover I like to do little things to show that I love them. It's the little things in life that let you know that breathing is worth it.
I love the full moon and the stars. I love rain and snow storms. I love the softness of my dogs fur as I pet him. I love the feeling of peace when I am alone in the woods. The list could go on. I thank the powers that be for all of the little things in life.
