A Follow Up to Another Story

This is a follow up to another ep member's story that received many comments in this group.  The book that was used in the story was really the focus of the story but as the comments continued they were not really focused on the book.

This article is also refering back to the book and the Doctor  who wrote it.

Enjoy.

Psychiatrist: Obama corrupting America with socialism
Book author warns economic 'rescue' will turn citizens into 'wards of state'

Only a month into Barack Obama's presidency, an acclaimed psychiatrist is warning that Americans are being slowly corrupted by socialism as Obama's policies intrude into their economic, social and political lives – a tactic he believes will secure future votes for the Democratic Party.

"We have a desperate population, and it's feeling even more desperate than usual," Dr. Lyle Rossiter told WND. "People are really quite frightened. They're looking for magic, and they think they are going to find it in this man."

Rossiter is a forensic psychiatrist and author of "The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness." In his book, he explains how the kind of liberalism being displayed by both Barack Obama and the Democratic Party can only be understood as a psychological disorder. He examines how modern liberal collectivism undermines the legal and moral foundations of ordered liberty.

Rossiter warned that Obama, after only six weeks in office, is well on his way to institutionalizing a modern parental state – and his socialist programs will ultimately damage the moral fiber of the American people.

"This is not a stimulus program that is going to work economically," Rossiter said. "In the meantime, the character of the people – virtues of self-reliance, self-direction, self-determination, altruistic concern for others, charitable care for others rather than government-mandated welfare programs, regulation and taxation – all the capacities that made this country great are being contaminated.

"We are being corrupted by these programs."

Rossiter said Obama has seduced Americans into believing he can deliver them from economic distress associated with the housing, banking and unemployment crises.

"He has a particular gift for rhetorical speech that's inspiring, seductive and inviting," he said. "He's a quite charming person in his manner. People have been looking for someone to rescue them, and Obama has presented himself as the hero of the day."

However, Rossiter predicts Obama's collectivist rescue plan will end in disaster.

"He's headed for a very severe fall because the expectations are far in excess of what anyone could possibly provide," he said. "We've reached the point where, not only can the economy not respond to the stimulus, we have an incredible amount of debt. The entire project is going to collapse, and he will be humiliated."

Human nature is not conducive to socialism, Rossiter warned. Imposition of a collectivist system and policies encouraging citizens to seek help through government intervention and social programs may prove to be a death blow to the nation's spirit and liberties.

"If you keep trying to do it, you are going to destroy the character of the people," he said. "You may be able to subjugate them and get them into this dependent state, but, ultimately, society collapses because it's conceptually flawed."

While liberal policies eventually fail, he said the nation may suffer massive economic damage from oppressive taxation, stifling regulation and depreciated currencies; massive political damage in the form of irrational expectations of what government can and should do for the people; and, most of all, the permanent corruption of citizens by destroying their reverence for self-reliance, voluntary cooperation and genuine altruism.

In his book, he reveals how the liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:

  • creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
  • satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;
  • augmenting primitive feelings of envy;
  • rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government.

Obama's policies of promoting dependency are just part of a larger plan that goes far beyond economic "rescue," Rossiter claims. The administration is building a larger voting base.

"What Obama and the Democrats are doing is a profoundly political move to increase the numbers of voters by getting them on welfare so they will continue to vote Democratic," he said." Their immigration program is geared toward the same end – to provide legalization and benefits for illegal immigrants because they know 70 percent of those people voted Democratic."

Rossiter said the good news is that the collectivist agenda always self-destructs because it profoundly misconceives human nature and the human condition, but it will not do so before great damage has been done. It will attack the moral and ethical foundations of liberty, repeatedly violate the laws of economics and corrupt the character of the people as it invites them to become wards of the state.

"All of my fears in 'The Liberal Mind' are developing faster than I thought they would," Rossiter said. "It was bad enough under Bush, who expanded government beyond all bounds, federalized education and further socialized health care with a drug bill for seniors. It will get worse under Obama."

WORLD NET DAILY?<br />
<br />
The people who gave you the Vince Foster Murdered lie?<br />
<br />
Try again fools.

Well said, Whuttup!<br />
<br />
I don't know about anyone else, but if I owned a business that made $2 billion in profits (after all expenses and liabilities, etc) and after a modest tax adjustment "only" made 1.5 BILLION in profits....I wouldn't throw up my hands and walk away in disgust. I think I could find a way to muddle through on "only" 1.5 BILLION in profits. Someone I'd still find it worthwhile to stick it out even though after Obama's "oppressive tax hikes" I could only afford a solid silver toilet in my summer home as opposed to the 24k gold one with diamond accents that I really wanted. (sigh) <br />
<br />
And if I were a small business owner (which these tax rates aren't significantly impacting) and I went from $800,000 to a mere $750,000??? Um, yeah, pretty sure I'd still consider my business a profitable success.<br />
<br />
If those ******** want to leave the country I'm sure that there are about 1 million people who would swoop in and take over their business (which is still very, very profitable).<br />
<br />
I say, don't let the door hit you in the *** on the way out!

A true patriot would stay and allow the small increase on their lavish incomes.<br />
I say Good Riddance also

It helps to actually understand how these tax increases work (which really aren't raised taxes, he's letting ridiculous tax cuts expire. they're returning to the horrifying levels of the 80's and 90's. Oh no!). They represent an increase on taxes on profits above $250,000. So if this couple's business made $800,000 they would see in increased tax rate on everything above $250,000 so that means $550,000 of profits is going to be taxed at 35% instead of 28% under Obama's plan. And for this, they are going to go through the process of leaving the country? *shrugs* Good riddance. <br><br />
<br><br />
For the people out there moaning gloom and doom over these horrific tax "increases"...please get some perspective and rationality. <br><br />
<br><br />
Were Bush's tax cuts EVER going to go away? Republicans kept extending them over and over. Why? <br><br />
<br><br />
"The economy's good, you can't get rid of Bush's tax cuts! You'll kill the economy!"<br><br />
<br><br />
"The economy's tanking, you can't get rid of Bush's tax cuts! You'll kill the economy!"<br><br />
<br><br />
No matter what, conservatives were never going to let go of those tax cuts, they made too much money for big corporations. All the while they hide behind the false posturings of trying to protect the small business and Joe the Plumber... and most of America keeps buying that brand of Kool-Aid. <br><br />
<br><br />
Wake up. Interest rates of 0% and tax cuts for the wealthiest are not sustainable. Why is that so hard for people to understand?

Grits, all due respect, under $1 million/yr for a business is not who is meant when it is referred to as the "very rich." Yes, I know more taxes on those making over $250,000/yr. <br />
<br />
There's 1% of Americans who hold 90% of the country's wealth. We're talking about people with thousands of employees, skimping on wages for them or healthcare benefits or any benefits. While they collect yachts like paperback novels. <br />
<br />
I listen to talk radio, National Public Radio. Not the hate-mongering of the Rightwing stations that cater to a slim cross-section and sensationalize, although I have listened. It's just too sad and upsetting. Try NPR a bit?

Your sentiment is understood, grits4ever; the conservatives of this country aren't going to duck their heads into the sand (as well they shouldn't), and they will keep true to their own perspectives about the issues of the nation at present. However, the fact remains that Obama's election was fair and legal, decided by the majority of the American voters' populace; we will see how he does, but I definitely am seeing two very different perspectives on how his plans are shaping up. The Liberals seem to think he's doing wonderfully... but Limbaugh, Ingraham, Hannity et al have a totally different take on the matter. I feel fortunate to live in a country that is blessed with different voices, like ours is - and I never want to see that disappear. THAT would be quite unAmerican!

i'm sure many of you do not listen to talk radio. at least not the shows i listen to. but we all may want to stop and think about something.<br />
<br />
If the very rich are going to be taxed so heavy. how long do you think they will put up with it.<br />
<br />
On a show last night a lady called in. Her and her husband own a small business. They have 8 employees and average about 800,000 a year in income.<br />
<br />
Their plans before the taxes go into effect are to close their business and move to the caymon islands. This country will see more of this because these people (the ones who give jobs to others) will just cut their losses and move away. They have the means to do this when the rest of us do not.<br />
<br />
So, when they are no longer here to pay the taxes to suppor the country, who will it fall upon?

Dr. Lyle Rossiter the republican?<br />
What do you expect him to say?<br />
How many republicans does it take to ruin a nation?<br />
A handful obviously.<br />
Obama isn't God.<br />
He isn't perfect.<br />
He only seems that way in comparison to the previous administration.<br />
Socialism?<br />
We have always had socialist programs in America.<br />
The Highway system wasn't built without the tax payers.<br />
Medicare wasnt , nor was Social Security.<br />
What don't you like about the idea of after working hard all your life being able to squeak by on a pauper's wages?<br />
How many times do the parties have to raid S.S. before the people act against the robbery that has taken place?<br />
This system we have now is broken to the extreme because of the greed of corporations and CEOs and the abusive leadership of the last 8 years.<br />
If you can't see and admit the last 8 years were a total failure then you need to grab a vat of coffee and wake up!<br />
I am sorry if you are disturbed that you aren't getting your way right now but it is our turn.<br />
You have every right to bellyache and moan but until Obama fails even to half the point of bush's failures I believe we have room for a lot of consideration before you condem someone who has been in office just over a month

Beautifully composed, JP. Poor kids go into the military because there used to be a promise of an education after they serve. An education they wouldn't get their own scholarship for, lacking grades, or afford on their own. But their service keeps being extended, they get recalled. Monies have been redirected and education isn't priority anymore. Just getting proper medical care when they get home is difficult. Sorry Grits, I think it bears being stated, however off topic, it is a result of what you're supporting.

c8 you may have opened a can of worms for those who do not think that way. however, thank you for the honest feelings and the courage to state them.

I believe Obama KNOWS it will destroy America and the world.....and he is doing it deliberately.<br />
<br />
He soooooo has another agenda !!!!!
