I Believe Memories Are Gold
I remember when you first came into this world. It wasn't with a cry like most, because you had left your mother's womb to early. They brought breathe to your lungs and whisked you away, while I was left in shock of your departure. I kissed your mom and then rushed to be with you. The doctors and nurses used every skill they had for you. And while your mom and I watched, you fought a good fight to stay with us. You are a courageous son, my son. But, the doctor said they could do no more. You were just too early, my spring bird. Your body wasn't ready to leave the warmth of your mom. I'm sorry I couldn't help you more, but your mom and I decided to let you go in peace. She held you for a while giving you her mother's love. Then I held you until you breathed your last, while I cried the whole time.
You only lived a week, but your light lives on in both your mom and I. You showed us true courage, the will to live, and a big heart. We both will remember you and miss you. And know that we both will always love you.
