    I agree. I should have added, and had considered doing so, that the empty room referred to would be an addition to our presently furnished, though smallish home. ('cozy' or 'charming' in realtor-speak)

    That would be too minimal for me. I like to be comfortable in my home, but I dislike it to be cluttered with things I don't use or need.

    My preferred approach to moderation might be to start with an empty room, into which, some day, I could place a single item.
