I am sure you are right about the need for a mutual effort and commitment. In my case, a particular disappointment has been that, although we both have skype and could talk for nothing, this only happens very rarely (and probably only then because I have kept mentioning it) and a third party is invariably in on the conversation. I am an eternal optimist, though, and almost worship the other person so, whatever happens, I will always love her. Maybe the need for great patience is essential, in these situations. (PS 3 months on from this posting, things are as they were and I don't see the relationship progressing any further. But, I shall continue to give her whatever love she will accept, moving forward.) [PPS Two years on & I can say that there is almost nothing left of it. The feelings were on my side alone. Other experiences, on line, have convinced me that, with rare exceptions long distance relationships, especially on line, do not work.]

if both parties are commited then it will surely work after all you could be together daily and it doesnt work i know a couple who got married eventaully after years of very long distance dating so yes it can work!

You are absolutley right, I have been in a long distance relationship for 2 years. It was the hardest thing. I was 110% trying all the time, i never let him forget me, and he of course tried too, he was faitful and always picked up my calls. We both were frustrated but i knew that if both of us gave up it wouldnt work. And after coming back after two years, It WAS worth it. I could have never found anyone like him. I never wanted anyone but him, and i thank him for believing in us as well. So your advce is true, it is worth it in the end. You just need to be strong :)
