Hmmm. Not sure unconditional is the right way for me. There are absolute deal-breakers. Loving? Yes. Accepting bad behaviours from a partner your love unconditionally? No.

My friend's definition of unconditional love is the following....

Loving unconditionally is about accepting the person as a child of God, not about accepting their behavior or their actions.

when two people are open and honest and have no secrets, no fears of being judged by the other, and they can be just who they are and say whatever they feel and need to say, that is uncondtional love...

So..I will love you always, unconditionally, no matter what. Now, maybe you will go off the deep end and do some hanious things, I would still love you just the way you are. I would not be happy with your behavior or your actions, but I would still love you just the same.

(so that is my goal..to love him that way also ...)

This is a very thought provoking story. Those few people that do love unconditionally are exceptionally grounded with very broad shoulders, who have had deep experiences of being personally loved. They have a rich interior bank out of which to give their love freely.

So you are not actually explaining the riskiness of unconditional love.

You are saying its risky to love unconditionally because you could get disappointed. That is impossible. Because that wouldn't be unconditional. So it not the unconditional that is risky, but the conditional.

because as i said in my story... for me to love someone unconditionally..and for the person I love, to not love that way..I could be incredibly dissapointed and hurt ..He can be very unfair..very unloving..but.. in the pure sense, to love unconditionally..means, you love him anyway.because the minute you put terms and conditions in place..well..it no longer is unconditional..

I still don't see why it would be risky..

yes, but that involves a lot of risk..to love that way s very risky. and that is why i say.... it is the ideal..but not the practical.. for it to work, I think it would require the ideal mate.

I understand. That is probably why unconditional love is such a rare thing.

But I guess its not really unconditional love that you want. Because you do want to give your relationship conditions. You want that person to act a certain way.

In a way its the opposite of what your title says. Unconditional love is practical but not ideal for you. Because you want things from that person. Its more practical to not want or need anything and that "love" to just be there, no matter what.

but...you see..I do expect and want certain things from that person for me to love them.....I would expect to be loved back unconditionally and would want that unconditional love. to be there. To me..if your both not loving the same way..your on a teeter totter... and out of sync....and out of balance..and soon out of love.

You can love someone unconditionally and not be taken advantage of.

You can say no to certain things and still love them. The unconditionality of it means, you don't need, expect or want anything from that person in order for you to love them.
