I Can Laugh At Myself
Please allow me to introduce myself,
I'm a girl who's broke, but with taste,
I've been around for 22 long years,
Stole many a man's heart and breath,
I'm not your average slacker 20-something,
I may be aimless but not lost and downtrodden,
I hitchhike through life for the love of the game,
Like a hand in glove I just fit,
But I'll never submit to a banal fate,
After all, why save 50 years away on something that you hate?
I feel it's worthwhile leading this laughable life,
For no other purpose but to set my eyes on such great heights,
Blistering sights few others dare to see.
And though I'll never be anything other than ordinary,
That's quite all right with me.
For I take the responsibility to push it along for others,
My sisters and my brothers,
So that they'll reach the stars
And give me something to stare at in the night sky while I'm dreaming of the next sunrise.
