I Cannot Believe We Still Have to Fight For Gay Rights
"nothing To Fear But Fear Itself.. Oh, And Those Pesky Gays!"

It's sad to me that in this Country (the United States) that was supposedly a government of the people, by the people, for the people still denies so many people the rights that the constitution promised them. EVERY Man (I say that not meaning to exclude Women but that's the way it's written... I'm assuming you're included too now Girls!) is guaranteed freedom of LIFE, LIBERTY, and THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS... unless that happiness includes wanting to love someone of the same gender.
It's noted by many people that seeing Two Women together is much more socially acceptible that seeing Two Men together, but not so much when it comes to the law. I just don't get the fear of letting Two people of the same sex get married! First of all, if same sex marriage is legalized, it doesn't cheapen the bond that a Heterosexual couple feels.. Nor does it mean that you will be dragged kicking and screaming down the aisle and be forced to marry someone of the same sex. If ONE person could give me a valid argument NOT based on religious beliefs (Remember.. Separation of Church and State) or idiocy (If we let Gays marry, what's to stop someone from marrying a Goat? ) OR "The Institution of Marriage" (Hello, Britney Spears 55 hour marriage.. J-LO, Johnnie Carson, Liz Taylor..need I continue?) Or that someone will use marriage to gain financial/Tax/Medical benefits (I'm NOT going to name Anna Nicole here... oops just did.. but I'm still going to give her the benefit of the doubt that She Loved the old Man and not his account) Then I will gladly shake their hand.. but I have yet to hear ONE argument based outside of that reasoning.
It's not like we're asking for any "special" rights ! All we want is for our Love to NOT be cheapened by a government that looks down upon it as superficial or second rate to a Hetero relationship.. How can they when people risk their lives, families, friends, and so much just to be with someone they love in a society that only now is starting to care when someone is killed or hurt because of their sexuality... it takes a lot of strength and courage to be Gay... at least to accept it and live life outside the confines of the "Closet" and more courage to acknowledge that love and embrace it when there are so many people getting kicked out of their homes, spat on (Don't say it doesn't happen, it's happened to ME) and beaten for being Gay. When was the last time you heard of a "Straight Bashing"? or someone losing everything because they came out Straight? So don't you DARE say that my love is worth less.. if anything it's worth MORE because we stand to lose a HELL of a lot more for living as who we are than a Straight couple.
Obviously (well I hope) you will see this is not meant as an insult to Heterosexual Love... It's Amazing and Beautiful.. And I Love Straight People just as much as my Fellow Homosexuals.. But it's still not Equal, and I think it's about time we realize that ..within reason.. LOVE=LOVE=LOVE Gay or Straight... And no one should be able to deny that love.
