With Realisation Comes Wisdom

I think that when one realises that they cannot change the past, but can change their future, they gain a real sense of power and wisdom, and a better understanding of their life.

The past, for a lot of people, is a truely powerful thing to overcome. A dead weight that has the potential to drag you down for the rest of your life. But when you realise that the past has no real power, that it doesn't control you and doesn't have to effect you, you lose that weight, and gain your life back.

For myself, I have been dragged down by the past for too long. And it took a lot of mistakes and hard lessons to learn the things I have today. But in the end I have gotten myself to the point where I am no longer controlled by it. I have learnt from the past, and will not forget it, but I no longer allow it to have the power to control me as it once did.

“Any change, any loss, does not make us victims. Others can shake you, surprise you, disappoint you, but they can't prevent you from acting, from taking the situation you're presented with and moving on. No matter where you are in life, no matter what your situation, you can always do something. You always have a choice and the choice can be power” -Blaine Lee

So true. There were times I wanted to hide under the covers - but rather than give in I would do 2 mile "power walks" around the the reservoir in my city. Something about just moving dissolves the pall that we sometimes cloak ourselves in.
