6th Time Is A Charm?
I have taken my UK driving test 5 times now and failed each and every time. It wouldn't be such a terrible thing if I wasn't already a driver with an American driver's license. Unfortunately, in order to drive in the UK you have to sit the test to get your UK license. I thought it would be relatively simple, minus the fact that the Brits drive on the other side of the road. I couldn't have been more wrong!
Despite a couple hundred hours of driving lessons and the aforementioned attempts at the tests, I cannot seem to succeed with the bugbear that is the UK driving test. I go too fast, I go too slow. I speed through the roundabouts, I hesitate at the roundabouts. The annoying bit? None of this happens on the driving lessons themselves.
Something occurs from the time that my driving instructor collects me to take me to the test centre which transforms me into a quivering puddle of goo. I physically shake with anticipation of the fateful words the examiner may utter next, i.e. use that car to parallel park, or please turn the car safely in the opposite direction. Again, stuff I can do with my hands behind my back on a lesson.
I have attempted to take Calms and Rescue Remedy with little to no real effect. I am seriously considering hypnotherapy. Anything to succeed at my sixth attempt. Watch this space!
