Only 7 More Weeks

I really do love summer. I love not having to be anywhere first thing in the morning. In June, we wake up eat a pop tart, and the kids put swimsuits on. We head to the pool for swim team. I have coffee and chat with the other mommies. There's always one that shows up with make-up on and hair done. It is not me. Hair in a ponytail, whatever shorts were on the floor handy, and the t-shirt I slept in. We get home, they take a shower, I run, then I take a shower, and there you go, it's lunchtime. In July and August, we just sleep until lunchtime. Mix in summer camps, time at my parents' lake house, and hopefully a trip to the beach and life is very good.

Come on down, the more the merrier. Just don't wait too long. I figure I only have 2 or 3 more summers like this before I have to go back to work full time. But, whatever, I'll think about that later. :)

You are so funny about those tan lines hahahahha :) You need a little naked sunbathing somehow huni :) but you are enjoying your summers and making the most of it and your story was great and so are you. That's why your friends love you and have fun with you :) xox It is my favorite season too :)

well, pnh, it's easy to sound funny when the topic is funny. I might have to consider naked sunbathing, i'll let you know how it goes. I have a gift of finding the best people as friends. maybe that's why you wandered along. nice to meet you. :)

How fun for this story to come up again. I got my first sunburn on Sunday. My shoulders are peeling now and I'm pretty sure I have a few new "freckles" (my nice word for age spots) amongst the flaking skin. The best part of the runner's tan has to be the line around my ankle. Tan, tight calves and bright white feet. I am quite a sight in sandals. My mother, trying to console me, I think, said she was sure I was beautiful to other runners.

I hate summer. I hate the heat, I hate the humidity, I hate the bright hot sun, I hate how long the days are, when my now grown children were young I hated the fact that they weren't in school. I count the days til the summer is over. And tanning and burning is bad for your skin. I will never understand why some Caucasians want to change the color of their skin.
