I Care a Lot About People
...but I do genuinely care about people. I am a giver by nature and I believe kindness goes a long way...the "you'll catch more bees with honey" analogy is true.
I had to laugh on Friday, I was co teaching Geometry class and the kids were taking notes. I have a few that are FOREVER losing their papers, notes, etc...despite the fact I have repeatedly organized binders for them. We were ending class, putting books away and ready to head to lunch...I had the typical flurry of papers given to me to "keep safe." I do this for them, because I know if I don't, those much needed notes will never resurface come Monday ;)
As I am gathering notes, the man I co teach with...I will say this right now, he and I share the same way of teaching, we say what is on our minds and the kids and each other always know where they stand with the both us...he is one of those grumpy teddy bear types...his bark is worse than his bite ...lol. Anyway, he looks at the kids and says, "You're lucky she cares so much, if it were me I'd just let you suffer when you don't have your notes for the test." That sparked a debate between he and I and the kids about how much kindness is too much...we decided that my caring balances out his bluntness...and the kids actually appreciate us both :)
