I agree, killing off human beings that are already here is a sick thing to do. You know how long it would take to cut the population dramatically, without killing anyone?

    ONE generation!

That's all. Stop having more and more babies. Every one of the problems you listed would benefit from reducing the population (as I'm sure you know). Instead, in this country, we've got a republican agenda to eliminate abortion, and in some places even eliminate birth control!

It's like these guys are dedicated to doing their worst. I don't understand how anyone can be that oblivious.

I think most of these points are on the money and pose the biggest challenges for life on this planet.

I say "life" as opposed to "humanity" because it's clear that we place no value on anything other than ourselves and our ecological footprint effectively covers the entire planet; we're going to take everything with us on our way down.

But like the like the string quartet that kept playing as the Titanic sank, up to our last moments, we will proceed as we have been.

I don't understand the big pharma to be honest. The expense of some of their therapies is clearly beyond that of most individuals, particularly the monoclonal antibody therapies, and yet they form more than 50% of the pharmaceuticals entering clinical trials at present.

And I have to say, creating GMOs firsthand, that the use of GMO technology in itself does not necessarily lead to their environmental release. But like every other techonology, it does need to be regulated.

Thank you for posting this.It seems like we will have to feel the pain of slamming into the brick wall rather than hitting the brakes or swerving to avoid it. :-(

We are taught to be short sighted - it all ties in with us spending/buying. More more more!!! Created needs we didn't even know we had to keep the sham of an economy moving. We need a whole new system - and it looks like we're going to get it, whether we like it or not.

Our generation will have to teach the Crash Course necessary to survive. Not an easy task while some chant 'Drill, Baby, drill" an still others attempt to tear down the schools.

But compounded growth - an depletion - are facts, not scare tactics of the tree huggers.

An I'm afraid it will be some time yet before mining the dumps of our fathers is profitable.
