I Care For My Elderly Parents
My heart hurts as I change roles
From one to the other
Still the daughter
Forced into the role of a mother
Once living an active life as
A loving wife and mother
It’s difficult for my mother
To now depend on another
My mother is hanging on to life
Wanting to control her destiny
The truth is she is now forced
To depend on others and me
Struggling to take care of the one
That once cared for me
God please help me to be
The best daughter I can be
Her mind sometimes wonders
Her body is frail
Fighting back with medication
Seems to no avail
Please give me patience and strength
As the end draws near
Let me be strong and ready
For hardships as they appear
God let my mother enjoy her last days
Filled with laughter and love.
Until it's her time to walk
the golden streets in heaven above
From one to the other
Still the daughter
Forced into the role of a mother
Once living an active life as
A loving wife and mother
It’s difficult for my mother
To now depend on another
My mother is hanging on to life
Wanting to control her destiny
The truth is she is now forced
To depend on others and me
Struggling to take care of the one
That once cared for me
God please help me to be
The best daughter I can be
Her mind sometimes wonders
Her body is frail
Fighting back with medication
Seems to no avail
Please give me patience and strength
