Posted Nov 18th, 2008 at 11:06PM Finally read your post. I lost the web site when my grandson played on the computer! 15 years ago, I was helping care for my dad after Mom died. He lived 1 1/2 hours from here. I'd work 10 -12 hour days and then go see him. It was tough. He had cancer, and had just lost Mom to cancer. He didn't care any more. My daughter helped all she could. My brother and sister didn't even call him. And now my son helps take care of me. Well, his wife does! I rent a room from them, so the money helps them. They help me with laundry and other things that are hard for me to do. I take care of my grandson--not too hard, he's 12. It's working better than I thought it would. We each are able to maintain some privacy, so that helps. Good luck with your parents.
Posted Dec 12th, 2008 at 7:48AM Hang in there Kim. My heart goes out to you. Getting parents to listen to and do what's good for them is very difficult and could try the patience of a saint. Stick to your guns, do what you can to preserve your own sanity and enjoy your own family as much as possible. The lesson that took me the longest to learn is this; You cannot control the people in your life, you can only control how you react to them. It's a valuable lesson that I have to reteach myself everyday. Good luck and I hope your mom is feeling better.
