Day Two - Kujichagulia

I've not always celebrated Kwanzaa. I'm slow in adjusting to change. I celebrate Christmas.  Its a joyous time to celebrate the birth of a very special baby.

I've not gathered all of the items/symbols of Kwanzaa; but my household does recognize and live by the principles.

Today is officially  Day Two.

So you say...Habari Gani.... I say "Kujichagulia"

Kujichagulia (Self-Determination)
To define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves and speak for ourselves.

What a nice principle to be accountable for ourselves, to utilize the talents and gifts that we were given to bring into existence our own happiness and success.  I will not allow others to walk over or on me.  I will speak my mind respectfully.  I will create my own destiny using my gifts, my talents, my hands and my own unique creativity.   I am me and I am shaping myself into the me I would like to be.
