Common Sense

If you send me a friend request or if I have noticed a comment of yours to one of my stories or to that of a friend's then I will check out your profile before I consider adding you to my very small circle of friends.  It isn't about arrogance.  It is about finding people who share a common thread of thought.  I have a variety of friends but we all share the same idea when it comes to respect.

If you are looking to befriend me, I strongly suggest that you carefully look over my profile.  I don't befriend anybody and everybody who asks for friendship.

Interesting to hear anothers perspective. Personally I add willy nilly, but I would never consider the folks I chat with online as friends. I would merely consider them acquaintances. I add, then if they add me, I read their stories, check out their experiences, look at the photos, and move on to another group. I find it very interesting to read about the massive variety of the people on this site. WHy would I limit myself to only being exposed to those with similar interests? The others will likely teach me more. :-) ... But then maybe that's the reclusive voyeur in me talking. lol

Different strokes for different folks. I respect your method.

Same here.

I always check out a profile. I just don't see why anybody would want to be friends with someone they have nothing in common with. I suppose that goes back to the "friend collectors" we hear about.

Neither do I. This is an excellent post. There are some really great people on here and then there are the undesirables. You are wise to carefully look over a profile, more people should do that instead of blindly adding people to their circle only to have to cut them later on.
