An Update

Welcome ZombieKitty.  It’s great to read a new story here.  Your avatar caught my eye, because I love Hello Kitty.  I recently acquired two used Hello Kitty postage stamps from Japan at a meeting of my local stamp club.  One has a pink background with a pink bow by her ear and one has a blue background with a blue flower by her (his?) ear.  The face value of each is 80 yen(?).  I don’t know if there are any others in the series.

I gave myself a 60th birthday present which was to walk the Mackinac Bridge on Labor Day for the first time.  Upon completion of the walk, I discovered that the USPS had a special cancellation station. I sent myself and some others a souvenir postcard using that special cancel.  I hope to do the walk again when I’m 70.

Do you collect special cancels, as well as FDC’s?  I have met a few stamp collectors from other countries online and have begun exchanging postcards with them.  It’s fun choosing the stamps and designing a card.

Happy stamp collecting to all.

Caroluise, having read your story above, reminde me of the time spent in Scotland with my son. he told me that the post office do a special stamp for people. So needless to say i checked and they so I had a sheet made with my stepdaughter on it and another with my wife on it, and they can be used for postage if posted in the UK.
