I Complete The Story By Adding The Next Chapter Or Section
Mom had sis, her friend and I wait in the front room. I was nervous as all get out. Here i was dressed as a girl in front of another girl and had to go to my sister's recital dressed this way. I dreaded it. Mom came down after about a half an hour and she was dressed really nice. She was wearing a a navy blue dress, hose, and high heels, a string of pearls around her neck with matching ear-rings. You'd think she was going out on a date with a friend instead of just the recital. Are you ready girls? she ask. Did she just refer to me as a girl. Lets go get in the car we don't want to be late now - do we? she continued. I ran out to the car and got in the back seat hoping no one saw me.
We drove for about thirty minutes or so and went to the dance studio. At least it wasn't going to be at the city auditorium this time like last year. I knew they'd be less kids there so i relaxed a bit. When we got there mom turned to me and said as long as you behave no one will know your a boy, so behave and enjoy it. Janet, my sister's friend said she would take care of me. Mom thanked her because she had to go back stage to help sis get ready for the recital. We got out of the car and went inside. They directed us to where the audience would be. Janet took my hand and led me through the maze of other girls at the recital. Other girls headed with their moms back stage. I went and sat down hoping to not attract any attention to me.
However, just my luck some girls saw Janet and came over. They all hugged each other saying how pretty their dresses were. Janet then turned towards me and introduced me as Bobbi, a cousin of my sister. Then introduced the girls as Sharon and Elizabeth. I quietly said hi. The girls then suggested we all go over for some punch. Sharon took my hand and said come on - it isn't that bad. I sheepishly allowed then to take me to the table set up with finger foods and punch. Sharon started talking to me and I relaxed more as they thought I was just another girl. Elizabeth ask if I had a boyfriend yet, I replied not here I live in the suburbs. I was still nervous but was settling down somewhat. Sharon ask if she could call me sometime and maybe we could play together. I told her I'd have to ask my mom first. After getting some punch we all went over and sat near the front of the stage. These girls were really treating me nice. I liked being with them. They told me of their school and their dolls and things, I had to lie I had some dolls at home too. I even told them of my teddy bear i kept on my bed. Elizabeth said she had a teddy bear too by the name of Gloria, then ask my teddy's name. I quickly thought of a girls name and said Betsy. I was finding out that girls really weren't that bad. Sharon told me she loved playing soccer like I did. She played a forward on her team,
I told her i switched off from goalie to a guard. we were actually having fun just talking, unlike the guys who like to just rough-house or brag about their ventures. Just then a person came out on stage and ask that we all be seated because the show was gonna start. We all sat next to each other as the curtain opened. Sis and the other dancers came on stage and performed their version of Snow White but there were also boys on stage. They too were in tights and leotards. I'd never seen boys dressed that way before. Sharon pointed out a tall boy and said that was her brother. She said she thought he looked cute in the tights. I ask her if the other boys thought he was a sissy for dancing. She said no, because he is also on the middle school football team. I was in awe. He danced really well. Mom came out and joined us and ask if we were enjoying the show.
We all, yes including me, said yes.
