I cut my hair for the first time a little under two years ago. I haven't been back to the barber since.

I've cut my hair an additional two times since then, and I must saying I'm getting quite proficient at it. But it's not just about saving a couple bucks and the nuisance of going down to the barbers.

I feel very in touch with myself when I cut my hair. It might just be that I'm staring in the mirror for 90 minutes straight (I take my time), however I think there's more to it than that. After I cut my hair, I feel like I'm starting with a blank slate.

The whole process is rather sporadic, which I think only adds to the therapeutic value. If I'm feeling especially frustrated one day, I'll just lock myself in the bathroom with a pair of scissors.
